In May 2015, the Traditional Authority and villagers gathered to mark out the land boundary for the clinic that AMECA will be constructing at Chilaweni. The ceremony was attended by a reporter from The Nation newspaper, and was marked by placing the first concrete beacon into the ground. Beacons were placed around the entire land boundary of the future clinic and the area designated for staff accommodation.
The clinic, staff accommodation and all equipment, to include an ambulance, will be provided by donated funds in the UK and in Malawi and the facility will be staffed and run by the District Health Office, Blantyre.
We still have a little way to go in terms of completing legal agreements, checks and balances and trying to achieve our tax exemptions on building materials, but we are getting there!! Read more on the development of the clinic on this page……….
