First birth at AMECA Clinic

On the 11th June, the first baby was delivered at the clinic; this was an emergency birth, as there was no time to transport the mother to the hospital in Blantyre. Happily she safely delivered a baby girl ……………. the staff asked the mother if the baby could be named Ruth. This request was well received.
AMECA was delighted that the mother did not give birth on the roadside trying to reach help. and that the clinic prevented any tragic outcome for mother and child.
A very exciting moment for all and a huge endorsement of the need to build a maternity unit on the site.
