Donation of laptops to Malawi District Hospitals

In December, eight laptop computers, together with internet dongles were donated to The College of Medicine in Blantyre, Malawi, for use in district hospitals in southern Malawi. The laptops will be used by clinical officers undertaking the new BSc degree in Surgical Training and this valuable e-learning initiative will provide vital support for remote rural locations, which are under resourced and poorly equipped.

This donation was made possible by a grant obtained by LAST, (Links in Africa for Surgical Training) and AMECA was very pleased to be able to have assisted in the transportation and handover of the laptops to the College. Read more about LAST’s activities at http://www.last-surgery.org.uk

LAST and AMECA wish to thank Gerald Mwapasa of The College of Medicine for his advice and liaison on the ground in Malawi and we all look forward to seeing the laptops being used to further surgical training in these remote district hospitals.
