On Friday 15 January, over 500 people attended AMECA’s fundraising event at St John’s School, Leatherhead, to hear Patron Levison Wood speaking about his latest expedition to the Himalayas. The evening was a great success; our deepest gratitude goes to the staff and pupils of Churchill House at the school and to Katherine at the Events Office, for all their hard work and fantastic organisation. Personal thanks to all AMECA’s Trustees, for their guidance and support.
We would also like to acknowledge the kind donation made by Barton’s Bookshop in Leatherhead; you did a wonderful job and worked really hard on the book sales on the night. We also would like to thank Professor Chris Lavy OBE, for his wonderful introductory speech and of course a huge thank you to AMECA’s Patron, Lev Wood, for donating his time to us and for giving the most inspirational talk on the night. Walking the Himalayas is currently being screen as a 5-part series on Channel 4.
The staff and pupils of Churchill House at St John’s will continue to raise funds for AMECA throughout this academic year. You are a great bunch of people and we thank you.
