In January 2009, The AMECA Trust awarded six final year medical students Bursaries to enable them to undertake their medical electives in Africa. The students have just returned and gave wonderful accounts of their time in various locations, which included Uganda, South Africa, Kenya and Cameroon.
The students were testimony to the fact that their clinical experience was greatly enhanced by undertaking electives in often very challenging and poor communities and we are very proud of their achievements. Some of these students will attend the Elective Evening in the Autumn at Nottingham and we hope that their stories and adventures will provide a real challenge for future elective students.
